Amazon Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Fire HD 8.9″ now available for Canadians

In many ways, Amazon was the company that kick started the race to the bottom for Android tablets that gave it quite a boost in consumer interest. The tablet that started off this trend of affordable Android tablets was the Kindle Fire. Unfortunately this game changer was only available (for various reasons) to our friends south of the border.

Now the Kindle fire HD (7 and 8.9) are available to Canadians. Unfortunately this come with a couple of caveats, for one you're limited to the Amazon App store and while it's now available to Canadians some might prefer access to the Google Play Store, and the other downside is that one of the big draws to the Kindle Fire HD, Amazon Prime Video, isn't available in Canada due to licensing issues.

That being said, competition never hurts for the consumer and another choice in the tablet space is a great thing to see.
