Lenovo buys Motorola from Google for a whooping $2.91 billion
Motorola is on a big upswing, while the Moto X wasn't the commercial success Google might have hoped for, there was a lot to love about it as well as the insanely good value in the Moto G. While this trend shouldn't end, it looks like Lenovo will be signing the checks now as the company has jointly announced with Google that they will be purchasing Motorola Mobility for a cool $2.91 billion.
We're still trying to wrap our heads around the deal not unlike when Google first bought Motorola for $12 billion. As expected, Google will keep the treasure trove of Motorola patents, and this coinciding with the recent 10 year Samsung cross patent licensing deal has people thinking that this deal might be a side agreement between Google and Samsung.
We'll cover more as the story develops but consider this a huge shift as Lenovo basically buys its way into becoming a top tier Android manufacturer.
